چکیده
This report presents a voxel-based biomechanical model for muscle deformation using nite element method (FEM) and volume graphics. Hierarchical voxel meshes are reconstructed from ltered segmented muscle images followed by FEM simulation and volume rendering. Physiological muscle force is considered and linear elastic muscle models for both static and dynamic cases are simulated by FEM. Voxel-based wireframe, polygon surface rendering and volume rendering techniques are applied to show real-time muscle deformation processes as well as realistic animations. The simulations and renderings demonstrate an excellent performance of the new model. An algorithm is o ered to employ volume graphics in medical applications.

Physically-based Animation of Volumetric Objects
This paper presents a voxel-based animation technique which employs either a massspring model or a nite elementmodel. The voxel-based mesh is generated in a pre-processing step. Two volumetric objects, a voxelized chair and scanned muscle are used as case studies with di erent models. The mass-spring model is used to show an animation sequence of a falling and bouncing chair. Wireframe display ...

متن کاملPrediction of Human Vertebral Compressive Strength Using Quantitative Computed Tomography Based Nonlinear Finite Element Method
Introduction: Because of the importance of vertebral compressive fracture (VCF) role in increasing the patients’ death rate and reducing their quality of life, many studies have been conducted for a noninvasive prediction of vertebral compressive strength based on bone mineral density (BMD) determination and recently finite element analysis. In this study, QCT-voxel based nonlinear finite eleme...

متن کاملReal-Time Synthesis of Image Slices in Deformed Tissue from Nominal Volume Images
This paper presents a fast image synthesis procedure for elastic volumes under deformation. Given the node displacements of a mesh and the 3D image voxel data of an undeformed volume, the method maps the image plane pixels to be synthesized from the deformed configuration back to the nominal pre-deformed configuration, where the pixel intensities are obtained easily through interpolation in the...
